III. Selected Statements from Current Science Textbooks


The following quotations from the textbooks submitted for adoption to the State of Alabama were selected to illustrate the types of problems in each book, and represent only a small sample of potential quotations. The following symbols are used:

  • D = inadequate or inaccurate definition
  • E = error
  • F = origins presented as fact
  • I = inappropriate for grade level or inappropriate approach to teaching
  • P = incorrect process of scientific reasoning
  • R = negative view of religion
  • SA = social agenda
  • T = statement showing how a text redefines "theory"
