APPENDIX F

Christian Faculty/Staff Fellowship Statement of Faith

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA CHRISTIAN FACULTY/STAFF FELLOWSHIP

Statement of Faith

A. We accept the authority of the Word of God as the only infallible rule of faith and life. II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21, and John 10:35

B. We believe in one eternal and triune God. This God is Creator and Lord of the world governing all things according to the purpose of His will. Matthew 28:19, Isaiah 40:28, and Ephesians 1:11

C. We believe in only one Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. I Timothy 2:5,6, Galatians 1:6-9, John 3:16, and Acts 4:12

D. We believe the Father sent the Holy Spirit to bear witness to the Son. Conviction of sin, faith in Jesus, new birth, and Christian growth are all the Spirit's work. John 15:26,27; 16:8-11, I Corinthians 12:3, Acts 1:8, and Galatians 5:22,23

E. We believe that God created humans as male and female and that they were created in His image. We also believe man fell into sin yet man still bears God's image. The present natural state of man is dead in sins and trespasses. Genesis 1:27; 3:1-14, Romans 5:12, Ephesians 2:3; 4:18

F. We believe in the necessity of conversion -- not of a particular conversion experience, for the experiences vary, but of convertedness, in the sense of a quality of life which shows signs of faith and repentance and thus, new birth. Titus 3:4-7, John 3:4-8, Acts 2:37-39, II Timothy 2:25-26

G. We believe that God is both Creator and Judge of all nations. We should therefore share His love and concern for the world and its people. We believe that evangelism and citizenship are part of our Christian responsibility. Both are expressions of our love for God and man. The salvation we claim should transform the totality of our personal and social responsibilities. Acts 17:24-31, Matthew 5:14- 16, Amos 5:21-24, Micah 6:, and James 2:14-26
