Monday Ministry Minutes

From CLM Staff Member Mike Sorgius

Monday Ministry Minute #3

Identifying yourself as a Christian - Your office

When a student or colleague walks into your office and looks around for a minute or two, how [evident] is it to them that your faith plays a central role in your life?

It's such a simple thought, but it is often missed. An attractive Christian poster or a framed Scripture verse. A well-placed Bible or Christian book (i.e., C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity or Josh McDowell's More than a Carpenter). A copy of a Christian Faculty Fellowship advertisement on your door.

It doesn't have to be much and it shouldn't be overdone. But many a conversation can take a dramatic turn when someone notices your faith in Christ.

Something happens, as well, to us when we make such a statement. It is like lighting a candle and letting our light shine.

Scripture: Matthew 5:15,16 - "Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck measure, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house (office?). Let you light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

Action Point: Look around your office and see if there is a strategic place you could add a decoration that would be salt and light to those who enter.
