Making a Difference as the School Year Ends

The school year is coming to a close for most universities across the country. That means a lot of studying (we hope), and papers, and final exams. It also means that professors have one more opportunity to encourage students to consider the important things of life. Now there is an easy way to give them one last chance to find out how Christ has made a difference in your life.

Many professors have found a wonderful tool in a "virtual office" on the web. This office gives you an opportunity to explain what is really important to you, share about your personal faith and how it has made a difference in your life, and encourage your students for their work this past semester.

A number of professors have taken advantage of this virtual office being hosted at our new resource site - www.FacultyLinc.com. Here is how the creation of a virtual office is described at FacultyLinc.com.

A Web-based online office potentially touches every imaginable audience--students, colleagues, international educators and students, laymen doing research ,even casual passers-by who land on your site. It even transcends the Christian audience to purposefully put you, your ideas and your witness in front of nonbelievers. The best motivation for you is that it is now incredibly easy: through Facultylinc.com, Christian Leadership has made a "plug-n-play" Web site template available that is no more difficult than composing a paper in a word processor.

The effectiveness of this strategy has been established for the 2 years that Faculty Offices have been posted at Leadership U. You will now be able to create your own Faculty Office as a registered member of FacultyLinc. Many faculty have realized the potential impact of having their personal story on the web. They have linked it to their local campus web page (thus avoiding the possible conflict of overt Christian content on the university server). They are then able to direct students and colleagues to their "virtual office" to read more about them. For example, at the end of the semester, list the web site in an email to the students thanking them for the opportunity to serve them during the semester and encouraging them to find out more about you at your Faculty Office.

Action Point: Check out the Faculty Offices already on our FacultyLinc site. Then, register on the site and begin the simple process of putting up your own faculty office. It's fun, it's simple, and it's effective. To establish a Faculty Office, register at FacultyLinc, then click on "Faculty Offices" on the left scroll bar. At the bottom of the list of offices you will find a "Create Your Own Office" button. Just follow the step-by-step instructions you find there. If you have any questions, please contact Paul Hartgrove at phartgrove@clm.org.

Note: This will be the last MMM for this academic year.
