Christian Leadership Ministries
Monday Ministry Minutes

From CLM Staff Member Mike Sorgius

Monday Ministry Minute #18

We Can Help You Get Started ... Or Grow

FacultyLinc, the brand new web site just for the college professor is now up and running. We are working hard to make it a handy resource for all your ministry needs. One of the questions we hear most often is: "How do you get a faculty ministry started on a local campus?"

One entire section of FacultyLinc is devoted to helping you get started on your campus ... or help you grow your existing ministry. You can find all these tools by clicking the "Local Ministry" button at the FacultyLinc site. (http://www.facultylinc.com)

In our "Local Ministry" section, you will find the following helpful information:

  • How to identify Christian faculty and staff on your campus - some very practical suggestions
  • How to organize a local Christian Faculty/Staff Fellowship on campus
  • How to maintain communication with your fellowship
  • How to build a local leadership team on your campus
  • Plus an entire section on helpful ideas for having an impact in the lives of students, colleagues and the campus environment

Being a Christian faculty member on a local campus can be a very lonely experience. It is easy to feel that there are very few like-minded colleagues around. Our experience has shown that there are many more Christian faculty and staff who are out there than we might think. (Although it varies by region, it is estimated that at least 10% of today's college professors are committed Christians). Many of these are feeling the same isolation that you might be feeling. It takes only a small effort to identify other believers and begin gathering around a common cause to make a difference for God's kingdom.

Even if you already have an existing faculty group on your campus, this "Local Ministry" section can be very helpful with ideas of how to expand your reach. Everyone should read the "How to Identify Christian Faculty and Staff" section to see how they might find others to become a part of their fellowship. It won't happen if you assume that someone else will do it. Start today to expand the ministry of the faculty on your campus. Let us know how we can help. Each of the practical sections above has a "review" section where you can give us your input, ideas and suggestions. Help us make this site even more helpful as we mentor each other.

Action Point: Go to http://www.facultylinc.com and register. Take a look around.
