Monday Ministry Minutes

From CLM Staff Member Mike Sorgius

Monday Ministry Minute #16

The Greatest News Ever Announced

We're only 3 weeks away from Christmas. What comes to mind when you hear that word? If you are like me, it's not what the shepherds were thinking on that first Christmas. They were overcome with amazement that God would invade history and let them in on it.

I'd like to encourage you to spend some time this Christmas season thinking about the wonder, the majesty and the surprising story of Christmas. The angels told the shepherds that it was "the greatest news ever announced." God pursuing us. Imagine that! God coming to solve the deepest longings of our heart. God coming to destroy sin's power and ultimately to make sense of all sin and suffering. God coming for us!

Refuse to focus on the presents, the trees, the decorations, the effect on the stock market due to Christmas consumption, the busy schedule, and all the rest. Take some time alone to focus on the joyous news that God is right now pursuing you. Bask in that a little each day. Allow that thought to even bring tears to your eyes, and you will be in a wonderful position to enjoy the rest that Christmas brings.

Scripture: Luke 2: 10,11 - "Don't be afraid! he said. I bring you good news of great joy for everyone! The Savior, yes the Messiah, the Lord has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David."

Action Point: This will be the last MMM this semester. They will resume in January.
