Monday Ministry Minute #31
Travel with Impact
This will be the last MMM for this school year. As you read this, I
will be landing (joined with my wife and five faculty members from across the
U.S.) in a large, closed country in Southeast Asia. Our objective is to open
up opportunities for ministry now and in the future as these faculty have
the opportunity to lecture in major universities. Please pray for us.
International lecture trips are just one way that we help faculty to use
their travel overseas to further the cause of the Gospel. There are several
other ways you could help, as well. I have asked our International Ministry
Coordinator, Dave Wiley, to share some other ways with you...
As CLM expands its ministry activities to a growing number of countries
throughout the world, there are several ways in which U.S. professors can
be involved.
The first is to let us know of any Christian professors in other countries
with whom you have contact.
CLM is particularly interested in establishing a worldwide network of
professors in the same academic field to provide encouragement and
mentoring, and to encourage joint-research projects that relate that
academic field to a Christian worldview.
The second is to let us know when you're traveling to another country for a
conference or other professional reasons.
For professors who have been involved with CLM, have ministry experience,
and who receive a recommendation from a CLM field staff member, we can
contact Crusade campus staff in the area in which you will be traveling and
offer your services to speak to student and faculty meetings.
The third is to participate in a CLM-sponsored international ministry trip.
We have a number of campus locations throughout the world which would
welcome a team of U.S. Christian professors coming in to speak and minister.
Although an international ministry trip does not require previous
experience, it does require some preparation on your part, including
writing a brief personal testimony, preparing lectures that present your
academic field from a Christian worldview, and learning how to communicate
the gospel one-on-one. You will also
have the opportunity to trust the Lord to provide the funding for your
trip, but CLM staff will work with you on each of these items.
The fourth would be to arrange a sabbatical at a strategic university or in
a strategic country.
