Monday Ministry Minute #15
The Power of a Personal Invitation
George Barna, a Christian opinion researcher, has done extensive research
on what makes churches successful. There are many factors in a growing
church, but he says, "The key was that the people who are members or
regular attenders of the churches consistently invited other poeple with
whom they had built relationships to attend."
Our personal invitation to those around us can really have an eternal
impact. As a matter of fact, it was probably someone's invitation that led
to a change in your life! Jesus is always offering a personal invitation to
follow Him.
If our faith is the most important part of our life, it should be a part of
our normal conversation. We often think that others would not be
interested. However, time and time again, people share how they appreciate
someone who takes the time and effort to care.
Extending a personal invitation shows we care about someone. Who can you
demonstrate love and concern to today?
Scripture: John 1:41 - "The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother
Simon and tell him, 'We have found the Messiah!'"
Action Point: Extend an invitation to someone close to you to an event
where they can learn about your faith (church, special event, campus
Christian event, Veritas Forum).
