April 23 - 24, 1999
Caldwell Hall 203

Welcome to the Christian Student Survival Conference, sponsored by the University of Georgia Christian Faculty Forum. The conference is designed to show you that a living relationship with Christ is an intellectually defensible commitment and to equip you to address challenges to your faith you will receive in college.
The need for this type of conference is readily apparent. The Christian community often expresses profound concern about the content and style of teaching in colleges and universities. Christian parents are concerned that their children's relationship with Christ will weaken, rather than grow stronger, during their college years. Youth ministers express frustration when they see students grow in their faith during high school, only to watch that growth deteriorate in college.
The Christian Faculty Forum desires that Christians thrive in college by developing a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. Our group's mission is to boldly proclaim Jesus Christ and His life-changing love and truth to the academy. One strategy we use is to advertise in the University of Georgia's campus newspaper, The Red and Black, at the beginning of every school year and at Easter. The advertisement identifies the Christian faculty and their respective disciplines. A copy of one of our advertisements is included. We also bring prominent Christian academics to campus for a series of university-wide and discipline-specific talks. Past speakers have included Phillip Johnson, the author of Darwin on Trial, and Michael Behe, the author of Darwin's Black Box. We meet weekly during the academic year and pray consistently for our colleagues, students and the university.
We strongly believe that this conference will effectively encourage students to live a more faithful Christian life in college. If you have any questions about this conference or the Christian Faculty Forum, please contact me.
Thank you for attending our conference,
Sincerely,
Dr. David B. Mustard
